Scatter material

This is how I have made grass, sand and gravel scatter material successfully in the past.

I take a tin can with some sawdust in it and add powdered watercolor paint mixing it in well with a small stick or pencil. I add a few drops of water to keep the powder paint from blowing away and make it bind well with the sawdust particles. Mix and mix until there are no lumps left and you have dry sawdust the color you want.

I then spread some white wood glue over the surface that needs to be covered and smear it on nice and thin with my finger.

I then pour a big pile of the sawdust scatter material onto the glue and push the pile around so that it gets to all the glue.

When the glue is dry I brush all the excess material off and put it back in the can to be used later.
